Transport Options

Copenhagen has an excellent transport system ensuring that your arrival at the airport and onward trip to your destination runs as smoothly as possible.

Metro
The 24-hour metro (www.m.dk) runs every four to 20 minutes between the airport arrival terminal (the station is called Lufthavnen) and the eastern side of the city centre. It does not stop at København H (Central Station) but is handy for Christianshavn and Nyhavn (get off at Kongens Nytorv for Nyhavn). Journey time to Kongens Nytorv is 14 minutes (Dkr36).

Taxi
By taxi, it's about 20 minutes between the airport and the city centre, depending on traffic. Expect to pay between Dkk 250 and Dkk 300.

Taxis can be flagged on the street and there are ranks at various points around the city centre. If the yellow taxa (taxi) sign is lit, the taxi is available for hire. The fare will start at Dkk 37 (Dkk 50 from 11pm to 7am Friday and Saturday) and costs Dkk 14.20 per kilometre from 7am to 4pm Monday to Friday and Dkk 18.75 from 11pm to 7am Friday and Saturday. The rate at all other times is Dkk 15. Most taxis accept major credit cards. Three of the main companies are DanTaxi, Taxa and Amager-Øbro Taxi.

Train
Trains (www.dsb.dk) connect the airport arrival terminal to Copenhagen Central Station (København Hovedbanegården, commonly known as København H) around every 12 minutes. Journey time is 14 minutes (Dkk 36). Check schedules at www.rejseplanen.dk. DSB Billetsalg is best for reservations and for purchasing international train tickets. Alternatively, you can make reservations on its website.
