iShipping Copenhagen 2019

Achieving Differentiation through Digital Innovation

There’s a lot of noise in the digital + shipping market. Our annual iShipping forum in Copenhagen this September aims to help you get a clearer picture of what is going on – which technology developments you should care most about, or which have the biggest impact on your business.

It seems no shipping company is happy with their level of digitalisation. But digitalisation in practise is not a tangible thing, it is a choice of many different software and hardware projects you could do. Which ones provide the best return on effort invested?

Maritime cybersecurity attracts a great deal of attention, particularly in Copenhagen. Do we need a hi-tech solution, or a through implementation of processes to identify, secure, detect and recover? Is this something you can do yourselves?

There are continued advances in satellite communication technology – both on the big end (VSAT) and the small end (LEOs) – and some companies are looking to deepen their relationships with customers’ vessels by making it easier to move sensor data. Which technologies have the most to offer a shipowner, taking into account the need for high reliability and high costs of switching?

Data integration is highly fashionable and discussed at conferences. But do companies really want to share anything after they have left the conference room? And if they do, how can it be made easier, and provide value faster? Integrating complex data requires our most talented technical people – but perhaps it can be easier if we abstract the data to the business purpose it was collected to assist with.
